We had to include Santa in at least one craft this season and this one is full of texture with a combination of yarn and felt. The actual plan was to just use yarn but we improvised with the felt because we didn't have enough red yarn. The process is part of the fun!
- Paper Cup
- Single Hole Punch
- Pom Pom
Step 1: Paint paper cup and allow to dry.
Step 2: Punch holes along the top rim of the paper cup, all the way around.
Step 3: Cut strips of felt, tying a knot in one end.
Step 4: Thread the felt strips through the holes.
Step 5: Gather the felt strips at the top of the cup and tie together with a piece of yarn.
Step 6: Glue yarn on for Santa's beard.
Step 7: Add a pom pom for Santa's nose.
Step 8: Add a mustache from yarn and trim from yarn to the hat.
Yarn could certainly be used in place of the red felt, like we originally planned, but the hat may be a bit more floppy. The slight stiffness of the felt makes the hat stand up a bit straighter. Experiment and see which you like best!
