We used several painting techniques to create this tape resist spiderweb artwork craft. From non traditional paintbrushes and finger painting to the big surprise when the tape resist effect is revealed, this process art project is a fun one!
- Washi Tape
- Plastic Lids (from beverages and small bottles)
- Paper Plate
Step 1: Cut a piece of cardboard for the canvas.
Step 2: Create a spiderweb with washi tape with vertical, horizontal and diagonal strips of tape on the cardboard. Next, connect the tape with smaller pieces of tape in a circular pattern to create the web. Press the tape firmly down.
Step 3: Use plastic lids to paint over the canvas. If you have a variety of colors of lids, match the paint color to the lid for some matching fun.
Step 4: Fill in any missing portions of the canvas with good old fashioned finger painting. We dipped a finger in the paint and created a round shape to go with the round shapes of the lids.
Step 5: Once the canvas has dried, very carefully remove the washi tape from the canvas to reveal the spider web.
This is such a fun one - especially during this Halloween season!
