We enjoy cutting paper snowflakes, and making snowflakes from other materials - like yarn. Something cozy about using yarn to make snowflakes during this wintery season!

Start with:

  • Craft Sticks
  • Yarn
  • Pipe Cleaners
  • Pom Poms
  • Glue
  • Scissors

Create it!

Step 1: Glue craft sticks together into a snowflake shape.

Step 2: Tie a piece of yarn to the center of the snowflake and weave in a circle.

Step 3: Attach pipe cleaners to the ends of the snowflake by twisting around the  craft sticks. (We bent ours to make points in between each craft stick.)

Step 4: Glue pom poms to the snowflake.

We used blue for a wintery snowflake look but these would be fun in a whole rainbow of colors!

Have some textured cardboard on hand? They make the best snowflakes! And, after you've made several, they can be joined together to make a really "cool" crown!

Start with:

  • Textured Cardboard
  • Paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Scissors
  • Paper Fasteners
  • Single Hole Punch
  • Glue

Create it!

Step 1: Paint textured cardboard and allow to dry.

Step 2: For each snowflake, cut four approximately 5 inches by 3/4 inch strips. Also cut eight approximately 1 inch by  1/2 inch strips.

Step 3: Glue the four strips together in a snowflake shape.

Step 4: Glue the small strips to the ends of each of the larger strips.

Step 5: On opposite ends, punch a single hole.

Step 6: Connect the snowflakes by lining up the punched hole of one snowflake to another and secure with a paper fastener. Continue until a circle is created!

If you prefer, instead of gluing the centers of the larger strips together, use the hold punch and another paper fastener for some additional sparkle!

Would you like to make a snowman - inside, where it is nice and warm? Sounds about right to me! This fun snowman is made from three paper plates and can be customized to make it as unique as its maker.

Start with:

  • Paper Plates
  • Colored Cardstock
  • Cardboard
  • Pom Poms
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Create it!

Step 1: Make four equal cuts into a paper plate, leaving the center uncut.

Step 2: Add glue to one of the cut corners and attach to the portion to the right. Continue this until all four corners have been glued and the first "snowball" is formed.

Step 3: Continue Step 2 two more times, each time cutting a portion of the plate off to make the "snowballs" increasingly smaller.

Ste[ 4: Glue the "snowballs" together largest to smallest.

Step 5: From cardboard, cut arms. From cardstock, cut nose and hat.

Step 6: Glue the arms, hat and nose to the snowman.

Step 7: Add pom poms for eyes and buttons.

If you don't have snow, or prefer to make a snowman inside where it's nice and warm, this snowman is just the thing!

Whether you have snow or not, this snowflake - made from cardboard - is a lovely decoration for the season!

Start with:

  • Cardboard in Variety of Colors
  • Textured Cardboard
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Single Hole Punch
  • Pom Poms
  • Paint/Paintbrush

Create it!

Step 1: Paint the cardboard and textured cardboard. Once dry, cut a variety of shapes.

Step 2: Glue the shapes together in the shape of a snowflake.

Step 3: Decorate with pom poms.

These would also be fun hanging as a garland and with a variety of colors could continue to decorate well in to the new year!
