Have you decorated your Christmas tree yet? We did on Friday and each year I love to see our handmade ornaments from past years. This one is easy to make and has lots of fun texture!

Start with:

  • Yarn
  • Cardboard
  • Paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Textured Cardboard
  • Paper Straws
  • String or Bakers Twine
  • Single Hole Paper Punch
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Create it!

Step 1: Paint a cardboard rectangle and allow it to dry.

Step 2: Cut a small piece of textured cardboard and glue it to the lower portion of the cardboard rectangle for the tree trunk.

Step 3: Cut yarn into small strips and glue on top of the tree trunk, making sure the pieces of yarn get smaller as they reach the top of the tree.

Step 4: Glue paper straws to the two outer edges of the rectangle.

Step 5: Punch two holes to the top of the cardboard rectangle.

Step 6: Cut a piece of string or bakers twine, place through two punched holes and tie a loop to hang the ornament.

Step 7: To finish off the ornament border, cut two additional pieces of paper straw and glue to the top and bottom of the cardboard rectangle.

This ornament can be made with a variety of green yarn and decorated with mini pom poms too!
