This process art Christmas tree artwork uses a variety of materials to create different textures and patterns. Use the pom pom "ornaments" to work on colors and patterns with your preschooler for an added bonus!
- Pom Poms
- Paper Fasteners
- Textured Cardboard
- Bubble Wrap
Step 1: Cut two rectangle pieces of cardboard the same size.
Step 2: Out of one of the rectangle pieces cut a triangle in the center, leaving a border on each side.
Step 3: Paint rectangle with triangle cut out yellow and allow to dry. Once dry, use bubble wrap and white paint to add the illusion of the glow of lights to the artwork. Set aside.
Step 4: Cut the remaining cardboard triangle green and allow to dry.
Step 5: Mix a little white paint to green paint for a lighter color. Paint with this color, over the green cardboard, using a piece of textured cardboard for a pine tree effect.
Step 6: Cut the left and right edges of the green cardboard rectangle and thread yarn across, securing in the back of the rectangle.
Step 7: Punch holes in each of the corners of the two painted rectangles, making sure the holes line up. Fasten together with paper fasteners.
Step 8: Add pom poms to the yarn - they will stick without glue, allowing for numerous patterns!
