Paper weaving is an activity we enjoy, forget about and then when we do it again, wonder why we waited so long! We made a colorful pumpkin patch with paper weaving - fun for Autumn and all the way through Thanksgiving.
- Cardstock - white, yellow, orange and green
- Light Cardboard (we used a cereal box)
- Orange Paint
Step 1: Fold a piece of white cardstock in half and, from the fold, cut into strips, leaving a 1 inch border at the top and bottom of each strip.
Step 2: Cut strips of yellow cardstock and weave in between the white strips.
Step 3: Add a small amount of glue to the ends of each yellow strip and glue to the white cardstock. Trim off any edges.
Step 4: Cut strips of orange cardstock and glue a border around the paper weaving.
Step 5: Cut circles from cardboard and paint orange. Allow to dry.
Step 6: Add bits of cardboard for stems and green cardstock for leaves and vines.
Step 7: Glue pumpkins to the weaving.
Visiting the pumpkin patch is one of our favorite Halloween time traditions. This fun piece of artwork can be made with as many pumpkins as you'd like and with different shapes and sizes -just like a real pumpkin patch!
