Ready for a really fun pumpkin decorating project? We used a glue gun for the quick drying factor so if your children are younger/inexpienced with using one, make the paper spiral pumpkin in advance and have it ready for your little one to decorate. It is such an interesting texture for painting and can be customized with a variety of decorations - with mainly recycled materials that you likely already have on hand!
- Packing Paper (we save ours from packages we receive in the mail to recycle into new projects)
- Glue Gun (recommended for adult use)
- Masking Tape
- Pom Poms
Step 1: Cut a circle from cardboard. Either freehand or trace a paper plate or other round object.
Step 2: Twist a section of packing paper and glue one end to the center of the cardboard circle.
Step 3: Continue twisting the packing paper and gluing it into a spiral on the cardboard circle.
Step 4: Once the cardboard circle is covered with packing paper, leave several inches that are not glued to the circle.
Step 5: Wrap the remaining packing paper with masking tape to create a pumpkin stem.
Step 6: Paint the pumpkin stem.
Step 7: Paint the pumpkin.
Step 8: Once the paint is dry, add some fun texture by gluing pom poms to the pumpkin.
We really enjoy using recycled materials and this was such a fun way to create a pumpkin!
