We love crafts that can be made without having to buy any special materials or tools. This penguin hat is made largely from...a paper plate! Add some colorful paper and a pom pom and you're set!
- Paper Plate
- Cardstock (black orange and color/s for hat)
- Pom Pom (optional)
Step 1: Cut all but about 3-4 inches around the inside of a paper plate, leaving the textured portion for the band of the hat.
Step 2: Cut a moon shape from the circle pop out portion of the plate. Use this scrap to cut out the white portion of the penguin's face.
Step 3: From black cardstock, cut an arch to place over the inside white pop up portion of the paper plate and a partial circle for the penguin's head.
Step 4: Glue white portion of the penguin's face to the black cardstock portion of the penguin's head.
Step 5: Glue the black arch to the inside pop up portion of the plate, creating the penguin's body.
Step 6: Cut eyes, beak, feet and hat from colored cardstock and glue to the penguin.
Step 7: If desired, add stripes and pom pom to the penguin's hat.
Step 8: Glue penguin's hat to the top of the penguin's head.
Simple to make and oh so fun for indoor wintery play
