Last year we made Patchwork Pumpkins and they were one of our favorite Autumn crafts. This year, we used a similar method to create collage apples with paper plates and I am happy to report they were just as much fun!
- Paper Plate
- Red Scraps of Cardboard, Cardstock, Paper Plates and Papers
- Green, White and Black Cardstock
- Cardboard for Stem
- Paper Hole Punch, optional
Step 1: Cut the center circle out of a paper plate. We also painted the outer edge red and used it in this craft!
Step 2: Gather together various textures of red cardboard and paper materials. If you don't have any, paint different textures of cardboard, paper plates, papers various shades of red and allow them to dry.
Step 3: Cut the red materials into smaller shapes - squares, rectangles, and triangles.
Step 4: Glue the shapes to the paper plate circle.
Step 5: Trim the outer edges of the pieces to create a smooth circle.
Step 6: Cut a stem from cardboard. Cut a leaf from cardstock (we folded it in half to give it a little more of a leaf shape).
Step 7: Glue the Stem and leaf to the apple.
Step 8: Cut circles for eyes with scissors or use paper punches.
Step 9: Glue the eyes to the apple.
We did this as a family project and it was so fun to see all the variations on each apple!
