Did you catch the Harvest Moon over the weekend? The night sky is so fascinating and it's so fun to learn about it and enjoy it on a clear night. We combined our interest in the night sky with a classic game for some homemade tic tac toe fun!

Start with:

  • Cardboard
  • Paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Scissors
  • Yarn
  • Cardstock
  • Ruler
  • Glue

Step 1: Cut a square from cardboard and paint (we mixed together black and dark blue paint). Allow to dry.

Step 2: Measure and mark 1/3 and 2/3 sections on each side.

Step 3: Cut a small portion of cardboard at each of the sections marked in Step 2.

Step 4: Cut yarn and wind into each of the sections cut in Step 4 to create lines for the tic tac toe board.

Step 5: Trace circles (we used a glass) and cut out of cardstock.

Step 6: Glue cardstock circles to cardboard (we used thinner cardboard from a cereal box). Once glue is dry, cut out circles.

Step 7: Cut three of the circles in half to create half moons. Leave the rest for full moons. It's time to play full moon vs. half moon in tic tac toe!
