I've seen so many fun characters and animals made from paper rolls but believe it or not, I don't think we've ever made animals from paper rolls! I decided to change that with a fun family craft afternoon. To prep these simple to make paper roll koalas, I painted the rolls and let them dry ahead of time.

Start with:

  • Toilet or Paper Towel Rolls
  • Paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Cardstock - gray, white, black and any colors for accessories

Create it!

Step 1: Paint the toilet or paper towel rolls and allow them to dry.

Step 2: If using paper towel rolls, cut them in half or thirds to make a smaller size.

Step 3; From cardstock, cut ears and glue them to each side of the top of the paper roll.

Step 4: Cut an oval from cardstock for the koala stomach and glue it to the lower center of the paper roll.

Step 5: Cut an oval or teardrop shape from black cardstock for the nose and glue to the paper roll.

Step 6: Cut eyes from cardstock and glue to the paper roll.

Step 7: Add any details you'd like to finish your kola.

Super easy to set up and so fun to see how everyone in the family makes their koala unique!
