Happy Earth Day! This activity is fun and really simple to put together if you are looking for a last minute activity for Earth Day.
Start with:
- A Circular Pan
- Corn Starch
- Water
- Food Coloring
- Spoon
- Measuring Cups
- Optional: Sugar Sprinkles,Toy Animals, Map, Books About Animal Habitats
Create it!
Step 1: To make the oobleck, mix food dye in one cup of water. Pour the colored water over two cups of corn starch in the pan. Stir.
Step 2: We added some blue sugar sprinkles for fun and watched them dissipate in the oobleck.
Step 3: After playing with the oobleck, turn it into an Earth Day lesson by looking at a map and placing green food coloring in the shapes of Earth's continents. Use the spoon to move the green food dye into the shapes.
Use the animals, and a habitat book if you have one, to discuss where each lives on Earth.
