With school starting back up again, this activity is a fun one to make together and then practice reading and spelling color words! Read below for several ways to learn and play with this activity.
- Colored Paper or Cardstock
- Letter Tiles
Step 1: Start with a cardboard rectangle - whether it is the side of a box or create a perfect rectangle by tracing a sheet of paper.
Step 2: Cut paper or cardstock rectangles from each of the colors of the rainbow.
Step 3: Glue the colored rectangles to the cardboard rectangle.
Step 4:Have your child spell out each color with the letter tiles.
For some variations on this activity:
- Mix the letters for each color up and ask your child to create the color word from the letter mix.
- For younger learners, spell the words out together. Spread additional letter tiles next to the activity board and ask them to find the matching letters. Have your child place those matching letters over the original tiles you spelled out together.
- Spell the color words, leaving out the vowels. Ask you child to finish spelling each color word by adding the correct vowels.
So simple to make and lots of fun ways to practice reading and spelling!
