Although we do like to make cookies at Christmas time, we also like decorating this fun cardboard version of gingerbread people - and it makes the perfect festive garland!
Start with:
- Paper
- Pencil
- Cardboard Cereal Box (we used a large family sized one)
- Paint
- Paintbrush
- Scissors
- Cardstock
- Glue
Create it!
Step 1: We started by cutting a gingerbread person template from a piece of paper and then tracing it to the cardboard box - making sure the hands and feet touched the next one to form the garland.
Step 2: Cut out the gingerbread people. The cardboard is a bit thick so this part is best done by an adult.
Step 3: Paint a white border around the edges of of the gingerbread people bodies.
Step 4: While the paint dries, cut clothes and accessories from cardstock.
Step 5: Glue the outfits and other details. For the eyes, we used a single hole punch and a 1 inch paper punch.
A single family sized cereal box should make four gingerbread people. Add another cereal box or two to make the garland even longer!
