Whether trick or treating is happening this year or not, it is still fun to make costumes and dress up! We made this cardboard pumpkin into a Jack o Lantern mask entirely out of recycled materials. We recommend using a hot glue gun and because cardboard can be hard to cut, we recommend making the main portion of the mask yourself and then having your little maker create the face and stem!
- Toilet Paper Tube
Step 1: Cut a strip of cardboard, long enough to fit over the head and rest on the shoulders.
Step 2: Cut slits along the bottom half of the cardboard strip.
Step 3: Glue the sides of the slits together and glue the ends of the cardboard strip together.
Step 4: Cut another strip of cardboard and glue each end to the top of the mask so it looks a bit like a basket.
Step 5: Cut additional cardboard strips and add them to the sides of the mask.
Step 6: Paint the mask orange and allow it to dry.
Step 7: From cardboard, cut a jack o lantern face.
Step 8: Paint the jack o lantern face and allow it to dry.
Step 9: Glue the face to the pumpkin.
Step 10: Paint a toilet paper tube green and allow it to dry. Cut slit into the bottom 1/4 of the tube.
Step 11: Glue the tube to the top of the mask for the stem.
Halloween is looking different this year but there are still so many fun activities that can be enjoyed!
