This recycled material project is so fun for a wide range of ages! For younger makers, you may want to cover the carton in paper first and then have them decorate it. Add a variety of materials and watch each designer's imagination shine through!
- Beverage Carton (we used a pint carton for cream)
- Cardstock in a variety of colors and patterns
- 1 inch Paper Hole Punch, optional
- Pipe Cleaner
- Pom Pom
Step 1: Glue the sides of the carton and wrap in cardstock. We used a hot glue gun because it dries faster. We recommend adults do this part!
Step 2: Cut cardstock and glue to the two sides to cover the folded top portion of the carton.
Step 3: Cut a piece of cardstock for the roof. Glue it to the top of the carton.
Step 4: Cut circles out of patterned cardstock (we recommend adults use the hole punch). We glued the circles to the sides of the house.
Step 5: Decorate the house with pieces of cardstock such as stripes, windows and doors.
Step 6: For the bat, cut wings from cardstock.
Step 7: Glue a pom pom to the cardstock wings to make the bat.
Step 8: To attach the bat to the house, glue the bat to a pipe cleaner. Fold the pipe cleaner in a zig zag pattern if you like, and then attach the pipe cleaner to the house.
